Utopia - short animation for an exhibition

°  The Concept   °
As part of my design studies, we organised an exhibition on the theme of Utopia in tribute to and in collaboration with the architect Jean-Paul Jungmann.

For this exhibition we created illustrations on the theme of utopia/dystopia.
My "illustration" is an environment modelled in 3D and presented in the form of a very short animation for the exhibition.

With a cultural background heavily influenced by the Soviet era and Russian literature, "utopia"  instantly redirects me towards dystopia. So the main theme was quickly chosen. In order to find a general direction, I read up on Jean-Paul Jungmann's work, and I was very inspired by the tendencies that transpired :

°   criticism of modernist dogmatism   °   mobile architecture   °   alternative recycling   °
                 °   inflatable / floating structures   °   monumental structures   °

I decided to take these concepts and push them further into dystopia.

° A bit of world building °
°
I then imagined a world where humans understand that they can no longer continue their way of life without destroying themselves and eventually nature.
So - in a last-ditch effort to persevere as a unit - humanity is called upon to transgress their physical form and merge into giant, architectural-like organisms - the Megastructure. The architecture is made of new, recycled materials - human bodies - and must continue to live as an organism within the Earth's ecosystem.
The process is very violent, resulting in an amalgamation of human organs, fluids and tissues. A bit like giant human meatballs.

°
°  Screen printing a poster  °
°
For my screenprinting course I was required to make a poster inspired by propaganda posters. I used that as an opportunity to produce more content around my world concept.
The horrors of my world are the result of intensive propaganda of a cult - the cult of Transcendence. I then designed a poster that would have been used by them.

°
P.S. :  My visual was even used for the poster promoting the exhibition !
